The top ski areas within easy reach of the Starnberg Ammersee Region

The StarnbergAmmersee Region, located in the heart of Bavaria, is known for its picturesque lakes and beautiful landscape. But if you think that there is nothing to do here in winter, you are very much mistaken. Because the five lakes not only have a lot to offer in the summer, but also in the winter there are numerous activities and experiences to tempt you.

If you don’t want to miss out on skiing during your winter holiday in the foothills of the Alps, there are numerous options for day trips to the Alps.

An insider tip is the Steinplatte/Winkelmoosalm ski area in Waidring/Reit im Winkl, where visitors can expect xx lifts, xx kilometres of piste and usually very good snow conditions.

Fellhorn/Kanzelwand in Oberstdorf/Riezlern is also worth a visit with xx lifts and xx kilometres of piste.

Those who like it a bit bigger should not miss the Garmisch-Classic in Garmisch-Patenkirchen. With xx lifts and xx kilometres of piste, the ski area offers a varied range of activities for winter sports fans.

The Söllereck ski area in Oberstdorf, the Sudelfeld in Bayrischzell and the Spitzingsee in Tegernsee are also very easy to reach by car.

Another highlight is certainly the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain. Here, winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy skiing on 12 kilometres of piste and 7 lifts and take pleasure in the fabulous views.

But besides skiing and snowboarding, there are also numerous opportunities for tobogganing, cross-country skiing or winter hiking. Those who want to take it easy can warm up in one of the cosy inns with a hot cup of tea or mulled wine and enjoy the view of the snow-covered landscape and lakes.

So in the 5-Seenland you can have a wonderful time not only in summer but also in winter. So pack your winter clothes and off you go to wintry Bavaria!
